I stayed up until 2 AM to read this book in one sitting. I didn't intend to—it was just that good. I can relate to Simu Liu in a lot of ways. OK, I'm not a world-famous Marvel superhero actor/model, I'm not 6' tall, and I don't have a six-pack. But I am an Asian millennial who grew up in North America, went to a high school for gifted kids, and have demanding parents who focused on academics. Asian parents who endured so much in their home country and then took great risks to start a new life in the West. Oh, I'm also an accountant. Anyway, Simu's memoir really resonated with me, from telling about his parents' journey, to his difficult childhood, to his experience in the corporate world, to his struggles as an actor. It's a great read, filled with humor, pain, heartfelt moments, and inspiration. It inspires you to lead a life that you want to lead, not one that's built on others' expectations. It inspires you to follow your dreams, no matter how scary doing so might be. Hmm, maybe accounting isn't for me either...
